Detective Frank T Weber
Detective Frank T. Weber was sworn in as a New York City
Patrolman September 1, 1946. During the course of his
career he was cited numerous times for valor. In 1952 was
involved in a wild west shootout in which several officers
were shot and Detective Philip LaMonica was killed. On
April 24, 1959 Cuba's Fidel Castro was about to give a
speech in Central Park when Detective Weber and his
partner were credited with stopping a man armed with a
bomb within a few feet of the stage. Once again in 1960,
Weber, as a detective working in the Theater District,
solved the killing of a 9-year-old girl, who was shot during a
scuffle between pro- and anti-Castro factions. The melee
broke out while Castro was staying uptown in a Harlem
hotel. Retiring November 22, 1963 Detective Weber fancied
himself as a "Broadway Detective" and boasted to have
been kissed by the singer/actress Judy Garland.
